Ride Safe from the Start

“Ride Safe from the Start” is an online, interactive, education program for first-time, expectant parents to teach them to buckle up their babies properly. The class provides a comprehensive guide to protecting babies and small children in the car, including how to select, install, and use a safety seat. The pilot program is funded by California Kids’ Plates.

We recommend that you complete the program at least 2 months before your due date, so you will have plenty of time to learn how to select your baby’s safety seat and practice installing it.

Attention residents of Los Angeles, Orange, and southern Ventura Counties in California:
If you complete the online education program, you may be eligible for a free, in-person car seat inspection conducted by a nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. A limited number of inspections are available, so please complete the course and notify us as soon as possible.

How It Works

1. Send a message to SBSOffice2@aol.com with your name, city and state. Please use “Ride Safe from the Start” in the Subject line.

2. We will send back a message with the URL, password and detailed instructions.

3. Go online and take the course. We recommend that both spouses/partners complete the course.

4. When you have completed the course, you will be given a completion code. Please email us this code, regardless of your location. If you live in Los Angeles, Orange, or southern Ventura County, we will arrange for a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician to inspect your safety seat and make sure you have installed it correctly.

5. We will send you a short evaluation. This is a pilot program, so please help us find out how many people take the class and if it is effective by emailing us the completion code and evaluation. Thanks!
